For more than sixty years, MECA has been committed to the Charlotte region. Robert H. “Bob” Pressley launched the company in the 1940s. His son, Anthony “Tony” T. Pressley took the helm in 1980 and was later joined by brother, Robert M. Pressley. Together, they grew the company into a multifaceted commercial and residential real estate practice encompassing the areas of brokerage, management and development.
Tony’s sons, Robert “Rob” A. Pressley and Andrew “Andy” W. Pressley, joined the firm in the 1990s and have assumed key leadership positions. Rob is president of Coldwell Banker Commercial MECA. Andy is president of MECA Realty.
Throughout the years, MECA has consistently combined professional expertise with local market knowledge to be real estate leaders in the Charlotte region. The company provides a wide array of high-quality professional services, including residential and commercial sales and leasing, property management, and association management.
Like their father, who is one of only two Realtors® to have been named Realtor® of the Year by both the Charlotte Regional Realtor® Association (CRRA—residential realtors) and the Charlotte Region Commercial Board of Realtors® (CRCBR—commercial realtors), Rob and Andy are committed to professional training and continuing education. Andy holds real estate licenses in both Carolinas and is a Charlotte Regional Realtor® Association member.
MECA has taken a leadership role in many community initiatives including Charlotte Trolley, Inc. and the South End Development Corporation (now Historic South End). MECA launched the process that led to Charlotte receiving its first EPA Brownfields Grant, and was one of the active proponents of the N.C. Brownfields Laws. MECA was also a major force behind the expansion of Municipal Service Districts by the N.C. Legislature, and was instrumental in helping establish the first rehab code in North Carolina.
The firm’s commitment to giving back to the community has focused on the arts, community development, and education as a means of fighting poverty. Members of the company have served on boards, commissions and committees for numerous organizations. These organizations have included the Community School of the Arts, Charlotte Certified Development Corporation, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Housing Partnership, Goodwill Industries, Boy Scouts, the Bridge Foundation and the Community Culinary School of Charlotte, to name a few. MECA’s contributions have been recognized with a variety of local, state and national awards.
